Sometimes it’s not easy to make the decision to walk away from a marriage – even when your wife is cheating on you. Your cheating wife may be a lot of things but she is still the woman you love. But, when does that love and the marriage you share become unhealthy? Is there ever a time when it’s better to consider walking away rather than trying to stay together? Is a marriage ever not really worth saving?

While I’d really hesitate to say that some marriages aren’t worth saving, there are some marriages that aren’t healthy. There are some marriages where the individuals in the marriage are better people when they aren’t together. As sad as that sounds, it is the truth. Here are a few instances where you might be better served by walking away to leave your cheating wife behind you rather than working and working to try to save your marriage.

1. The love is lop-sided. No matter how much you try to rationalize or reason through it you can’t make her love you as much as you love her. If she doesn’t feel it, there is little you can do that will force her too. If you love your wife much more than she loves you then perhaps it’s time to go out and find someone that will give you the love you so richly deserve.
2. You have more bad times than good. All marriages have their ups and downs. The hallmark of a good marriage is that the bad times in the marriage are often vastly outnumbered by the good. If you can’t remember the good times or feel that your marriage has had many more bad times than good then perhaps it’s time to completely re-evaluate your marriage.
3. Your wife is constantly looking for new ways to hurt you. This isn’t a marriage. It’s a sentence. The sooner you end your sentence the better in most cases. Your wife should be your partner and someone that does her best to lift you up and make you better not someone that tries to hurt you, tear you down, or bring out your worst.
4. Your wife is constantly cheating on you. It’s one thing to forgive a single indiscretion on your wife’s behalf. As difficult as that is to do you do not need to keep doing it over and over again. If your wife continues cheating then perhaps there are bigger problems to deal with and it’s time to end things. She’s obviously not interested in working to make things better with you and your marriage if she’s constantly turning to other men.

If these issues are not the case in your marriage then you can save your marriage. It is best to do the work to save it before you divorce and must then turn your thoughts to figuring out how to get your ex back instead.
